Ever since Kim Kardashian announced a jewelry robbery that, according to her and husband Kanye West, led to a thief stealing away with tens of millions worth of jewelry, all eyes have been on the Kardashian clan … and not in the usual leering, appreciative way. The blogosphere almost immediately accused Kanye and Kim of making it all up. Of staging the robbery to steal headlines. Others said the story was an elaborate hoax to promote the next season of Keeping up With the Kardashians… well, if that’s the case, the mission backfired.
The E! Network just announced it would be indefinitely suspending production on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” because Kim and Kanye were stuck in Paris dealing with the theft.
A show spokesman said the production crew’s primary concern was “Kim’s well-being…” adding that “no decision has been made as to when production will resume.”
Then again, if this did turn out to be an elaborate show promotion; well played, Kardashians, very well played. Millions forgot the show was even still on the air, and, recently, Kim only made the news when she appeared in public semi-nude and Kanye hasn’t seen the music success he expected to be heaped upon him.
Meanwhile, news of the ordeal, which may prove to be very, very real, continues to seep out of France. Most recently, details emerged about the robbery itself, when police released information stating armed robbers forced their way into the residence where Kim was staying, tied her up at gunpoint, stuck her in a locked bathroom and took off with the loot.
At this point, no arrests have been made, but Paris police appear to be taking the situation very seriously. This puts somewhat of a damper on those who say this is all some kind of elaborate hoax. Because if it is learned that Kim made the whole thing up, she could be in some serious legal trouble.
If the case does turn out to be true, one of the celebrities millions love to hate on could become one of the most sympathetic characters in all of American media fame overnight. Now wouldn’t that be a twist ending to this story?
